Hi, I'm Miguel
I’m Miguel. This is the first post here, so an introduction seems like the right place to start.
Who I am
I’m a DevOps and infrastructure engineer in Porto, Portugal. I like working things out as I go, and I like working with people, which in this job mostly means keeping things running so everyone else doesn’t have to think about them.
What I do
My side of software is the part underneath it: Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and the automation that holds a platform together. I’ve run infrastructure for high-traffic sites in online betting and luxury retail, moved companies between clouds, and built monitoring stacks from nothing. At the moment I’m on an AI-first travel platform, and I lean on AI tooling a lot to get the work done.
What I enjoy most hasn’t changed since I started. I like taking something messy and manual and turning it into something repeatable. Boring, in the good sense.
Outside work
Guitar, football, video games, the gym, my motorcycle and my cat, in no fixed order. Football more than most of them: I coached an under-10/11 academy side for a while.
